Edgware United Synagogue held a social event for people with learning disabilities who were interested in joining the community. They met the Rabbis and volunteers who are happy to support them to get involved. The Rabbi showed them round the synagogue and they enjoyed tea and cakes! One young person who attended joined a youth group that night, and is keen to stay involved.
Rabbi Lister said that a synagogue, in Hebrew, means a ‘House of Gathering’. The important thing is that people get together there, not just to pray, but for lots of social, leisure and educational opportunities.
We would like to say a big thank you to those who organised the event.
